Scholarship
Requirements
Eligibility:
- Must be a resident of Connecticut
- To receive a scholarship award, students must be accepted into a higher education program
- A higher education program is considered to be:
- University
- Community Colleges
- Vocational Schools
- Technical Schools
- Trade Schools
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Application Process:
- Interested students should complete the online application form
- Applications should include the following with their submission:
- Social Media Profile Handles
- Community service/volunteer information, including name of the organization and contact person for each (up to 3)
- A personal statement/essay with no less than 500 words describing why you believe you deserve this scholarship
- Your personal statement/essay should include how you exemplify the following characteristics:
- compassion
- integrity
- respect
- Your personal statement/essay should include how you exemplify the following characteristics:
- High school transcript
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or employer (cannot be a relative or family member)
- A personal video stating “What Dare Greatly Means to You.”
- The deadline for applications is May 1st of each year.

Selection Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by the Dare Greatly advisory board
- The advisory board will select the recipients based on academic merit, character, and other factors such as community involvement and leadership potential
- A rubric system is used to fairly score the applicants

- Decisions will be made by May 15 of each year
Notification:
- All applicants will be notified via email after final decisions have been made
- If you are awarded a scholarship, we will contact you directly to discuss the details for receiving funds, proper use of funds, etc.
- Generally, the scholarships are presented at a school assembly or other event with your school’s leadership
Award Amount:
The Dare Greatly Foundation will award ten (10) one-thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships.
